Today We Say Goodbye To Two Racing Champions

Today we bid farewell to not one but two horses that have more than made their mark on horse racing history. It was announced earlier today that reigning Horse of The Year Rachel Alexandra has been retired from racing and will hopefully spend a long, healthy and happy life in Kentucky at Stonestreet Farm near Lexington. Although she will be sorely missed in the racing community she more than deserves this retirement and all of us at Enchanted Jewelry & Collectibles wish her a long, happy life of leisure.

You can read Rachel's story here.

On a much sadder note, 1998 Kentucky Derby winner Real Quiet has died in a paddock accident at Michael Jester’s Penn Ridge Farm near Harrisburg, Pa. From what we've read it was a freak accident which, quite frankly, doesn't make a lot of sense but I suppose stranger things have happened. At any rate, it's always a shame to lost any horse, whether they are well known or unknown however, this is just tragic. You can read more about Real Quiet's accident here.

I think it's safe to say that neither one of these horses will be forgotten anytime soon. To Rachel...we wish you the best. To Real Quiet...please say hello to the Heavenly Herd for us and tell them we miss them. Thank you both for all of the awesome memories.
