It's Finally Summer, Time To Break Out The Sandals

One of the first things that I do once the weather gets warm enough is to go into my closet and get out my sandals. It's not only the fact that they are comfortable, it's the fact that it's summer and I CAN.

Different people may choose to wear sandals for several different reasons, among them economy (sandals tend to require less material than shoes), comfort in warm weather, and as a fashion choice. The oldest known sandals were discovered in Fort Rock Cave in the U.S.state of Oregon; radiocarbon dating of the sagebrush bark from which they were woven indicates an age of at least 10,000 years. None of my sandals are quite that old however I do have a couple of pairs that are pretty disco looking.

It's Kentucky Derby Time

Once again it's that time of the year. That time of the year when thoroughbred horse racing is in full swing and everybody who is anybody within the Sport of Kings is either in Louisville or wishing that they were there. The first Saturday in May of 2011 is fast approaching and the means only one thing...Kentucky Derby 2011 is upon us. In my family Derby Day was always a special day. I watched many, many of these races with my Dad and although I always miss my Dad I miss him a little more on Derby Day. Still, I watch every year and love it...I just love.
